The flames rose behind me like a massive wall. The hungry red demons were devouring everything. I pushed my horse harder and prayed. Behind the fire, the invaders pressed hard. The wall was broken and no place for the people to hide. There was nothing to protect them. Nothing but us. I halted my horse where the knights lined the gap between our people and the oncoming enemy. Yes, they had burned our city, but the flames had not broken us but kindled our spirits.
